Authors instructions



Contribute are addressed to an international audience, so submissions will be seen anonymously by the referees. The contribution should be sent by two different files: an anonymous file containing the text of the contribution and another one containing a short note of biographical details (name, institute of reference, e-mail address for all communication sent by RIFL). Please, make sure your contact address information is clearly visible only outside of the file you are sending to editors. The email address of the author, who will check proofs and receive correspondence and offprints, should also be included or confirmed.

All contribution should be sent by e-mail to in file .doc or .txt. Contributions will be accepted in Italian, English, French, Spanish, German, Russian.

Contributions should respect the following parameters:

-     40.000 letters (all included) for articles;

-     20.000 letters (all included) for interviews;

-     10.000 letters (all included) for previews.

Each article should be accompanied by an abstract of 150-200 words on a separate email. Since the abstract will be used to select appropriate reviewers, it is essential to make it as informative as possible. Moreover, if the article is not in English, it should be accompanied by an English version of the title and a list of 5-10 key words. Texts should be written in Times New Roman, typeface body 12, spacing 1 the lines of the text. All pages should be numbered. Texts should be divided in paragraphs, numbered in Arabic numerals (1.; 1.1.; 1.2.3. etc.). If any, the paragraph Introduction should be number 0.

The title should be followed by name of the author, address of the institution/association of research and an email address.

References in the text should be indicated as follow: (NAME year). Use double quotation marks for direct quotations, followed by the reference (NAME year: pages); (ivi: pages) in case of a following quotation from the same book, (ibidem), same book and same page.

Examples and quotations of more than two lines should be set off the text, with adequate margins (1 cm left, 1 cm right) and one line spaced from the text, using a smaller typeface (body 11). Please, give the reference at the end of each quotation (AUTHOR year: pages). Examples should be numbered in parenthesis by Arabic numerals, f.i. (1), (2), etc. Where short phrases or quotations are translated by the author, this should be noted.

References should be given explicitly at the end of the text, as the following examples.

  • Books: NAME, Firstname (year), Title of the book, City, Press.
  • Article: NAME, Firstname (year), «Title of the article» in Revue, n. xx, pp. yy-zz
  • or in NAME, Firstname (year), Title of the book, City, Press.
  • Electronic: NAME, Firstname (year), «Title of the article» in Revue, n. xx, pp. yy-zz, from http://xxxxxxxxx

Images, diagrams and tables, included as part of the text, should be sent also in separate file (tiff, gif, jpeg). They should be numbered by Arabic numerals (ex: t.1, t.2 etc. or f.1, f.2 etc.). The position of tables and figures should be indicated in the text, quoting them in the correct place. The following resolutions are optimal: .jpg file, 300 dpi. Supplementary material should be collected in an Appendix and placed before the Reference sections.

Font-related problems can be avoided by using standard fonts such as Times Roman, Courier and Helvetica. If necessary, particular font could be utilized, sending the file of the font with the article.

Italic should be used only to underline important or particular expressions, phrases and key words.
